Dear Mr Edmunds

Complaint against Portsmouth City Council

Ms Vereena Jones wrote to you on 4 April to say we are not treating Annex B of your letter of 13 March 2008 as a Freedom of Information request. She explained why she had taken that view.

You have since written to Mr Miles on 5 April and to Ms Jones on 6 April. You then sent a recorded delivery letter to Ms Jones dated 6 April. Mr White wrote to you on 23 April discontinuing the investigation of your complaint.

Your most recent email of 25 April to Mr Miles has been passed to Mr White who has asked me to reply.

In respect of your Freedom of Information requests, I refer you to Ms Vereena Jones' letter to you dated 4 April. I do not accept that your requests for explanations are requests for information which we can or should supply under the Freedom of Information Act. If you are dissatisfied with this response you may contact the Information Commissioner at www.ico.gov.uk or at his postal address which is: Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Ombudsman has no further comments to make on your complaint against Portsmouth City Council following his letter of 23 April. Any further correspondence from you on this matter will be considered carefully but unless it raises new and pertinent information, it will be filed without acknowledgement.

Yours sincerely

Neville Jones

Deputy Ombudsman
