Letter to Rt Hon Bob Ainsworth, MOD Minister, 4th June 2009
Dear Minister
Please find enclosed copy of letter (12/03/09) sent to vets minister, Kevin Jones and other parliamentarians. I did not get a reply from him?
I have long written to the PM etc re the enormous amount of squalor and cover-up arrangements by the MODs severe incompetent ministers and staff.
How one, especially soldiers become suspicious of past history; where it is evident how the MOD consistently procures inferior equipment and weapons, the wise old soldier immediately thinks of ‘kickbacks’ and how many bureaucrats etc benefit from such ‘kickbacks’.
The nation knows of the enormous amounts trousered by crooked MOD personnel, the scandalous way that Quinetiq was born, as though part of government was stolen from the taxpayer? How Quinetiq is now the government’s biggest client?
One can see how all this dodgy time-consuming fraudulence gets in the way of honest proper procurement strategies?
One is bedevilled by the gross stupidity as seen in cover-up statements from the MOD as seen in the Chinook case, where honourable dead pilots were blamed for MOD procurement errors. We then have similar stupid cover-up statements re the useless death-trap Nimrod and the brainless purchase of the death-trap vehicle Vector?
As a former frontline soldier, a war pensioner, I am sickened to learn that you have been involved in the corrupt MPs expenses scandal, the fiddling within ‘home made’ rules. Front-line soldiers rightly get the impression that too many officials are ‘on the make’. That his public sector crime is much worse than fraudulent behaviour by benefit cheats, and in fact, should be seen as Misconduct in Public Office (1783).
One learns with disgust that you were the highest claimant for 2nd homes in 2007/8; did the expense claims addle your brain? You took your eye off the ball re servicemen’s safety! You were against disclosure of MPs expenses - no wonder! I pose this question because you did not appear to have the nous to ground the Nimrod when everyone else around could see that the aeroplane was a danger to our troops?
A recent report suggests that the MOD is struggling to get essential equipment to front line troops. While the PAC suggests a ‘woeful state of affairs’ re the Vector vehicle, it would appear there is still gross MOD mismanagement! Yet with the immunity given you by the Westminster ‘old pals act’; you fraudulently claimed that this damning indictment, giving positive proof of the MODs severe incompetence, was a positive report for the MOD? You need to become aware of the publics anger re chicanery!
Your excuse-laden party-hack twaddle is a danger to all soldiers! The MOD is a corrupt body, a continuing threat to all our troops!
AW Tanner, an old vet, unhappy with sleaze and MOD procurement disabilities! cc all interested in MPs sleaze and corrupt procurement of inferior arms etc.
