Letter to the Prime Minister 17th April 2009
Dear Prime Minister
We have long written to you re the rather stupidly run, error stricken Revenue Valuation Office Agency with its overworked cover-up culture hiding away its severe cultural ineptitude and deceits. The latest is the extremely moronic port fiasco, from which an MP complained of the VOA Directors mealy-mouthed statements, and another of its litany of failures. We are not alone in suffering from the VOA!
You will remember we complained of being corruptly handled by a member of the VOA staff. We hoped to meet the miscreant face to face within a Tribunal with the democratic reality of questioning her about her fraudulent activities against us!
However, her place had been taken up by barristers and lawyers from the discredited HMRC legal dept. The corrupt acts against us were manoeuvred out of the way? The self-protective Revenue & Customs Prosecution Service were up to their old tricks persecuting Revenue critics whilst protecting its corrupt officials!
We made objections to these somewhat unjust Stalinist circumstances, but found our objections were not mentioned in the published biased Decision Notice? An astute Tribunal member asked if we had gone to the police? Why should we have gone to the police? We were using the democratic process, one does not expect to be handled corruptly by the machinery of civil servants or their subversive lawyers?
We have been punished by the power of the state! We have been ‘hung out to dry’ by a ‘dirty tricks’ routine as played out in Westminster and Whitehall! This ‘hanging out’ routine does in fact subvert our liberties!
So much shifty untrustworthy effort was put into diverting our PMs letter 7/9/08 re corrupt civil servants! The letter was pushed away from No 10; the MoJ took over its transportation telling the Cabinet Office to deal with it?
The COs Propriety & Ethics Team gave a dismissive reply with wrong directives? That being the case, why was it sent there other than procrastination? One could argue that Ministers/Mandarins, were contemptuously ‘hanging out’ our case, unwilling to face up to issues such as ‘corrupt acts by civil servants’?
There seems to be a collusive arrangement within the public sector whereby ‘critical views’ are pushed around “hung out” on time-wasting missions (See Zena Atkins account how an email was passed between 58 civil servants, taking part in leisurely procrastination, the whole episode took weeks). Proving there are times little or no effort is made re complaints? We hear of unopened mail falling out of cupboards?
Our overall 6-year experience of the somewhat deceitful establishment enabled us to write about continuing fudge and fraudulence by civil servants etc. we wrote: “The first priority of the Cabinet Office is to convince the public that the deceitful, incompetent Whitehall bureaucracy is working well! This toxic machinery defeats every principle of open democracy”.
We have claimed that many previous Prime Ministers have attempted to improve the civil service, for instance John Major tried to placate a worried electorate promising a Citizens Charter. While Tony Blair wanted improvement re accountability and delivery, such is the ‘inner squalor’ within the public sector.
We are completely in agreement with the REFORM Report’s description of the civil service as “An invisible and unaccountable group, all but immune to scrutiny”. The Report also echoes our cries to parliament, that “No government can succeed without sweeping away many Whitehall rules and traditions”!
It is a crime that I, a war pensioner, ‘someone who had done his bit for the nation’ is corruptly handled by a Revenue/VOA miscreant then, has to sit back and watch the Revenues discredited legal team give the lying VOA miscreant much unwarranted gold-plated protection?
Such blatant fraudulent establishment arrangements seem to be the norm! Establishments entrenched deceits have allowed all sorts of political corruption to take place within Whitehall and Westminster, and continue to this very day. Numerous unwholesome characters have milked the establishment, especially the legal brigade.
As to establishment corrupters, one is reminded of the late Lord Boothby. An extremely obnoxious establishment figure, capable of misusing political power, infamous for sleeping with a Prime Ministers wife, then a gangster and an assortment of the gangster’s rent-boys, not necessary all in the same bed at the same time. Boothby later misused his establishment powers on the gangster’s behalf getting him ‘off the hook’. Reminds one of Revenue lawyers!
When a newspaper took up this scandalous establishment story, Boothby in fake indignation sued, winning large compensation?
The establishment, who knew the truth, remained stumm – watched the paper cough up? Much establishment ‘old pals’ squalor is still with us today; it’s still capable of rearing its ugly head abusing justice, as seen within the HMRCs legal team being discredited at times within British courts! We again claim that the ‘old pals act’ is more powerful than ‘the rule of law’
Nothing seems to have changed within the decrepit establishment since Boothby: except that unelected officials and manipulators tend to focus more blatantly on wholesale political deceit, much to the detriment of government critics.
I think the establishments once golden-boy Boothby, should be nominated as the patron saint of all Westminster and Whitehall corrupters! No doubt there are others more worthy within the establishment, that being so, one only needs a nominator and a seconder! Wouldn’t cost a lot!
I remain an old war vet, seriously short of democracy!
AW & I Tanner cc to all interested in political corruption
